Tax code request for invoice issuance

Hello everyone, I recently opened a VAT number under the flat-rate scheme to sell my handmade items, I don't have a register of sales receipts since I'm in the flat-rate scheme and therefore I have to issue an electronic invoice for the item sold but I need to ask the seller for their tax code every time, with the risk of not receiving a reply and canceling the sale.
I saw that in the sales preferences settings there's the option "Buyers must enter their tax code at checkout" I enabled it and shortly after I sold an item but I couldn't find the customer's tax code anywhere.
I read old discussions here on the forum where they talked about a Probay app that showed the tax codes but now it no longer works.
Does anyone know how to proceed in this case or do I have to keep contacting all customers manually

You need to keep contacting customers and get their tax code.
