eBay shipping and useless insurance
Hello everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with you.
I sent an item with Ebay Shipping, the buyer received it damaged and informed me by sending a message 4 days after receiving it. Given his politeness, I agreed to the return. The buyer, 8 days after receiving it, instead of proceeding with the return request, opened a dispute for an item arrived damaged. I contacted ebay and the operator suggested that I approve the dispute anyway and file a claim with packlink to receive the insurance refund.
Once I did that, I had the unpleasant surprise that while ebay gives a full 30 days (THIRTY) to report damage to an item, Packlink, Ebay Shipping's partner, accepts claims within a maximum of 8 days from receipt. In practice, even if you purchase the insurance, if the buyer reports the damage 8 days later, do you know what you can do with the insurance??? I'll leave that to your imagination...
No need to say that I contacted ebay several times to report the absurdity of the timing, but the operators, besides washing their hands of it by saying that Ebay has nothing to do with it and passing the buck to Packlink, do nothing but copy and paste the rules as if we weren't able to read them ourselves.
Result: return of the damaged item and payment for two shipments.
Is it possible, in all this, to send a written complaint without going through the call center operators?
Have a good day

No, you have to follow the packlink procedure, which works through reply tickets.
ebay works one way, poste another (if it's a postedelivery business you have to contact packlink because they won't open a business case for you if you aren't the one who issued that business shipping label) and packlink, as ebay's partner, has different regulations.
A jungle of regulations in practice that you have to be careful with because if you step outside the parameters/protocols, you're out of the game.
Then again ....... if it were only the 8 days to be respected to obtain compensation.... once you get past this first hurdle, there's at least a week of back-and-forth with support via ticket, where you have to send a ton of documentation.
And then they want the buyer to cooperate (you don't always find a buyer who is capable and available) because they have to provide a statement, but above all they have to keep the packaging, the label and the box, photograph them and attach them.
If it turns out they threw them away, the case gets rejected.
Then an agent evaluates how you packed the item according to certain protocols and if you didn't use suitable materials and other packaging parameters, they reject the case.
Basically, the insurance should cover things without problems only if the parcel is lost or stolen and the tracking shows it wasn't delivered.
If the parcel is shown as damaged, they wear you down until you give up, or because there's something that prevents the case from moving forward.
Kind regards.
