Package shipping with Posta 1
Summary: The thread discusses shipping a package with Posta 1, but all the comments say "None," so there is no explicit information shared by the participants.
Hi guys, I ordered an item from the province of Catanzaro that should arrive here in Rome in a time frame between March 20 and 26.
The parcel, as correctly stated by the seller, was shipped with Posta 1 (in fact the tracking code starts with "2IVC") so I know perfectly well that the parcel can't be tracked and that I just have to make peace with it, and that's fine.
I placed the order on March 13 and on the morning of March 19 at 7:50 the seller writes to me "shipping it this morning".
A few hours later I check whether the shipment was actually sent and I see that eBay tracking says "Shipment code provided" but at 23:55 on March 18 (on the Poste Italiane website instead it says "The shipment is being processed" with no date/time).
I just wanted to know if it's normal to receive the shipping code before a parcel is shipped š
Thanks for your help!

Ā·1 year agothat code is used in Poste 1 and, as they told you, it is not tracking but proof of delivery; ideally the mail carrier, before putting the letter in your mailbox, will scan the code, which will show as delivered when searched on the postal service website.
All well and good if there werenāt at least two unknowns:
1) The mail carrier might not scan it, and so it will remain in perpetual transit even after being delivered
2) To keep delivery stats looking good, the mail carrier might mark it as delivered but actually deliver it the next day (this has happened to me personally in 2-3 cases).

OP2 years agoGreat, thanks then. It's the first time I've had to deal with a shipment via Posta 1, so I freely admit my ignorance on the matter.
So I'll just be here waiting for the package, hoping it doesn't get lost, abandoned, or anything like that!
Have a nice day and thanks again!

Ā·2 years agoPerfectly normal: just as itās possible to buy shipping labels before sending a shipment, itās also possible to buy Posta 1 labels in advance (which is a mail service for items up to 2 kg and not actual āparcelsā) and then apply them to the items before handing them over to the post office.

Ā·1 year agoSorry, I asked, the userĀ "boupelvie" wrote that itās not possible to track the package that starts with "2IVC", is that actually the case for you too? I mean, on the tracking on the postal website, does nothing show up if you search for the shipment that starts with "2IVC"? Or could it always remain in the "processing" stateĀ even if itās in transit?
Thanks
