VAT added to the final price
Summary: The discussion concerns the VAT issue and how it is included in the final price, but no participant provided further details or specific contributions. The conversation remains unresolved and without significant developments.
Good evening, I wanted some clarification. Some time ago, I came across an auction for a little model from the States; to correct myself (auction or opportunity to bid), anyway I agreed with the seller on a certain amount that was fine for me, and I won the item!
But once I went to the cart, the amount to pay was no longer the one I had bid, but the starting auction price, which was about 150 dollars more, by the way!
I contacted the seller and explained the situation, and he replied that it might be that the system sometimes makes a mistake, but if there were an error in the payment, he would then issue a refund!
I very naively completed the purchase, but I noticed that in the cart there was no VAT increase on the total price (item/shipping and duties in a minimal amount) and the amount was still the starting auction price!
Looking again at the summary of the purchased item, even after 7 days there was no line for VAT.
To conclude, yesterday after about fifteen days I received the item, but checking the total payments again now I see the amount I had bid, correctly, and 180 dollars of VAT!
So I wanted to know if anyone can advise me.
Did the seller perhaps change the entries after the purchase and mislead me, or was it a normal procedure!
THANK YOU !

·1 year agoHello, VAT was charged on my cart but the purchase I'm making is to the Canary Islands which, from what I read, are part of the European Community as Spanish territory.
How can I report this issue to ebay?

·1 year agoYou're wrong, there are some territories that are not part of the European customs union. Among these are the Canaries.

·2 years agoI’d add to what Mario said that in the "180 dollars of VAT" there’s definitely not just VAT, but also duties and customs clearance fees.
In fact, the duty is paid on items with a value over 150 euros.
You didn’t specify whether the item was sold with eBay’s shipping program or not.
In that case, everything was already included at checkout and the various charge items are available in the order details.

·2 years agoWhen you buy something in a non-EU country, payment of VAT is inevitable.
If you had not paid it on the eBay form, it would have been requested from you upon delivery by the carrier.
In cases where eBay has collected VAT, you will see VAT included in the order total at checkout. In addition, the tax invoice will be available and downloadable from the Order Details page in Purchase History.
