Shipping labels - discrepancies between costs indicated by eBay and actual costs

I sold an item to be shipped to Croatia. When I created the listing, I entered the shipping costs for the European Union following what was written on the Ebay page https://support-ebay.packlink.com/hc/it/articles/209156905-Quanto-costa-una-spedizione-con-eBay-Spedizioni#h_01GXRARVA0VBRQ1WQP8VBCC3B5 (the intention was to buy a label on ebay as I always do)
According to their page, for Croatia the shipping costs for my parcel ranged from 10.68 with UPS Standard (zone 5 which includes Croatia) to 12.14 euros with Poste Crono Internazionale (I didn’t take the other services, which are much more expensive, into consideration).
Therefore I listed the shipping to the European Union as 12 euros.
After selling the item, when it came time to buy the label, ebay only offered me UPS for 43 euros!
Obviously I didn’t buy the label, I had to arrange it myself with Bartolini, spending 14.70 (I lost more than 2 euros).
The amounts, for identical items shipped to Germany and other EU countries, matched and I’ve always had a good experience.
How is it possible for there to be this discrepancy? How are we supposed to indicate the shipping cost correctly if this happens?

Packlink is a shipping broker.
If one of the couriers listed on packlink, for any reason, temporarily or permanently changes its shipping rates, packlink simply adjusts.
Then, as happens for Italy, there are various areas that are subject to higher costs because they may be disadvantaged areas, or poorly served, so in addition to the country you always also need to consider the ZIP codes.
Then, packlink shipping rates for various reasons such as updates or other things could temporarily be unavailable.
So it is always good practice to have an alternative shipping broker in case of shipping problems with packlink.
For these reasons, shipping costs can only be estimated (preferably on the high side).
The same thing happened to me with a shipment in Europe that was over 40 euros.
I arranged to ship with another broker at a price of about 20 euros.

OP1 year agoIn fact, I solved it by buying a BRT label on Packlink (still spending 2 euros more). The problem is that it was not possible to buy a shipping label through eBay at the prices they indicated; the only option I could choose was this one at 43 euros. Based on what they wrote, I calculated the shipping cost to charge the customer, but then in practice I couldn't go through with it. From now on I'll use Packlink, but I don't think it's right for eBay to indicate solutions that I then can't use

OP1 year agoSorry, maybe I’m not explaining myself clearly. The link you gave me is the same one I posted too. Based on what I found there, I calculated the shipping costs. But when it came time to create the label, entering the dimensions and weight (see photo) the only option I was given to buy was this one for 43 euros (from that link I see different options at 10, 12 euros etc).
Not wanting to pay that amount, I went ahead on my own, outside of eBay, and bought a BRT label through Packlink for 14 euros. There were also other options, all unavailable using eBay’s direct service, which only offered me this one at 43 euros

·1 year agoActually, on PackLink (with your weights and dimensions) they give me very different shipping options (in addition to UPS, which is actually much more expensive).
