I already paid VAT, why do I also have to pay the customs duty and "postal fees"? | Selling on eBay

I’ve already contacted support but it wasn’t very helpful, I bought an item from a UK seller, the price was around €50 but with shipping and INTERNATIONAL VAT (which I paid) it went up to 80; according to the ADM, you don’t have to pay any duty or customs under €150, only the VAT that I paid (handsomely) so I’m wondering how I can solve this problem given that support didn’t do much...Customs wants me to wait 15 days so I can "be called back" in that time frame my package will go back to the seller and I’ll have lost money and the item.
