Tracking code not recognized

Hello, I await a package sent with tracking.

However, the code does not appear next to the item in the shopping list. On the other hand I can click on the "order details" and the code appears only by choosing "full order details", but always not clickable (in gray), while the "tracking history" is stopped at "tracking provided" (the first step).
Also, the Royal Mail site, when I check the tracking, replies "Sorry - we don't recognize that number".
From this my interpretation, the parcel was not read by the Royal Mail optical reader even in the departure office, otherwise, I imagine, it would be "in transit" and would be recognized by the "Track and trace" of the Royal Mail website .
So the doubt remains, for which I ask information from the most experienced:
Is the tracking code registered in the postal service first and based on this eBay updates automatically? or can it be in eBay (even if not clickable) even if the mail still doesn't recognize it?
