Ciao a tutti, love the music.

Sin, I finally watched the first episode last night and I was surpised that I actually enjoyed it. The kids were really cute...I love the two sydneys......and the little southern boy was adorable. And Gordovo?  I felt bad for the ones kicked off, but I noticed that they didn't really show them getting rejected, like they do the adults. They'd probably have people calling up ready to stone 'em. LOL But I was very impressed with all of them. Sydney 2 making salmon en papillote impressed the heck out of Gordon...and me too. I better pay close attention. 

The book sounds interesting, I like fictional books that center aound real historical events like that. Is this a published book or does she just write for her own enjoyment? Wondering if she is an established author or just starting out. Either way, that's pretty cool.

she's an established children's and YA author, some of her books were actually on the school curriculum in oz . now she does symposiums and lectures and stuff now and then, and the occasional tv interview.
she's 75 now, so she justs writes for her( and our ) entertainment now, she's really good at satirical poetry, a very funny woman! and as sweet as can be, but her humor's got a bite to it when you mess with her, ilove to bits.
love the 2 syds( that's my niece's name!) although the one with the blond hair spells her name CYD instead. the other one is from wisconsin,the one that did the en papilotte salmon, so i'm a little partial to her. gonzalo is adorable! and i love the redheaded boy, mark, and elizabeth, the little girl who did a fundraiser to go to the auditions..after tonight i'll post all the names for us, since it's hard to remember sometimes.
what i love about this show is how much encouragement they get from all the judges, and how much they give to each other, that is just so cool!

Did she post over on ebay.au with a different name? I don't remember her and I think I would have, she sounds interesting. I might be interested in reading her book...did she send it to you online?

I'm partial to Cydney also, there's just something about her. She's quirky and came right out and said something to that effect, definitely seems like she's not afraid to be herself or worried about fitting in. I like that about her. I bet she'll come up with some creative dishes. Yes, Gonzalo....oops, I'm not too good with names. lol  He wanted it so bad, it would have crushed him if hadn't have gotten it. I noticed that both the Boston girl and California girl got bumped in the same round! We still have Wisconsin though....so there's that. Maybe it's a sign that the Packers will go all the way next year. : )

Oh yeah, I was going to ask you if you were watching that new show, Taboo? I don't watch much t.v. these days, but this one grabbed me right away so I've gotten in to it. It's on FX. I think it might be one you would like.

she's the great she elephant over there, a very wise one at that. 

  she sent me an actual copy of her book, with a sweet and funny inscription, and her signature. it says" for barri, who lives in kansas, from "xxx" who lives in oz",and a note telling me to enjoy some of their history. we talk quite a bit at sockit about the history of our countries, and cultural differences.. and food differences, lol! and slang, omg, we have some wild discussions on slang! 

  i'd starve to death there, i am SO meat& carbs, lol!
